Joe Hill & Max Lowry

Joe Hill & Max Lowry, [1976- 2010]
In Lowry's mid- twenties he decided to become a full- time artist, painting portraits, lanscapes, cartoon impressions, before putting his imagination on paper and painted abstractions of intense emotion.
Lowry travelled most of his twenties, gathering and collecting inspiration, until he met Joe Hill were they both developed a succesful 3d street art techniques and showcased them in a wide range of locations, together travelling the world. After Lowrys death in 2010, Hill has decided to carry on their exhibitons and artwork.
I first seen on Hill & Lowrys artwork on BBCs The One Show, I decided to research Hill & Lowry. Discovering their amazing showcase of artwork, a beautiful and elegant way of using random spaces, abstracting and painting scenes in different parts of the world. Detail & dedicated hard work shows what true professional artists, what an inspiration!

Gateheads Baltic

ROBERT BREER 30.09.1926 – 11.08.2011 Breers exhibition consists of his paintings, ground- breaking films and major sculptures from the past 60 years. He has been considered to be one of the most influential animator/ film- maker in history and one of his last but most comprehensive exhibitions to date.
Although Breers’ exhibition was unusual to see everything move, I found it rather absorbing to see why he used the products he did and how he made them move. Most of the exhibit was colourful and wasn’t a normal exhibit where everything is on the walls, his motion picture of the train running along the track was quite wonderful to view as it was the image never changed but the train kept going.

Visit to the Baltic

Maurizio Anzeri
Anzeris curious collections from 1930s & 1940s photographs with vibrant threads stitched directly into each photograph, obscuring parts of their faces creating different dimensions to each face.
I thought Anzeri had a different approach to old photographs, creating different situations on not being able to view their faces. The portraits were more creative as it was only one person but the family photographs proved how extensive his art is. A refreshing approach to 1930s & 1940s photographs by simply adding vibrant threads.

Barnaby Barford
Barford creates exclusive pieces, made from ceramics reflecting everyday society.
These creative pieces show how an average day in socitey, reflectong from playing the National Lottery, shopping in the local supermarket to buying a car. The quirkiness and colour of each piece shows how passionate Barford is about his work, even down to the dates on the lottery tickets, to the different tones onto the pigeons.

Colin Booth.
Booth creates playful cityscapes out of thousands of wooden blocks, inspiring children, adults & architects.
I found Booths exhibition quite simple but spectacular, as he put the whole thing together by hand. I thought it didn't resemble cityscapes until you found a different position observing his exhibition. After you read his blog, I understood how it worked and enjoyed the playfulness of it.

May 2011

Finishing first year in Interior Architecture I have made progress in almost everything i have done. Mostly i have improved on digital skills, knowing only a little bit on Adobe Photoshop I have learnt more on editing images and designing boards on Adobe Illustrator. Doing professional floor plans on AutoCAD has improved my overall look on floor plans and also using Google Skecthup I have improved buildings and the final layout of the renvation. I have also took time in  boards and creating professional floor plans and filling up my project with the essentials, in the brief. Project AD101 has made me more aware of time keeping and standard setting, keeping me on track with my strengths, weaknesses, targets and progess throughout each project and planning of each project. I have also kept a better time keeping further on in the year with PPD and this has helped me improve on projects, what i essentially need and this has made my development more efficient, time keeping better. Overall throughout this year i have improved on most skills, especially building up a project and creating professional outcomes with digital programmes.

Church Renovation

An image of the on-suite, created in Google Sketchup. Only the shower needs moving as th eheight of the roof shortens the angle on it.

Church Renovation

exported from Google Skecthup, the master bedroom. With a walk-in wardrobe and double bed, behind is a on- suite. the idea for the space left between the windows, so light can be flooded in too the downstairs, was taken from The Restoration Man, when George Clarke helped renovate a derelict church. can be viewed by 4oD, Restoration Man, episode 3.

Max Lamb

Researching Max Lamb was an inspiring look on how he produces domestic furniture, most designers create from original materials ie, wood, glass, marbel but Max Lamb created his first piece from a single block of polystyrene. A material only used for packaging whereas Lamb created a chair. The chair is sat upon the unused polystyrene and a paint splashed background, the phtograph works well together as a quirky and possibly timeless piece of furniture.

advertisement

an advertisement in the Metro newspaper, advertising a restaurant. I photograpahed this becasue i like the title of the restaurant and how it fits in the shape of a Hippo, also the quote underneath the image, spending time with friends is something a like to do, especially with a bite to eat and a drink (:

tynemouth beach

This is a building i created for the project AD105&106, it's situated on Tynemouth Beach. A coffee shop with avintage/ shabby chic interior, the first floor also has a outdoor where the doors unfold and the fist floor opens up into one whole space.

Shipley Art Gallery

Unfortunatly I never got who made this piece and the Shipley Art Gallerys website never had it on but i photographed this piece becasue i like the way the light reflcts off only some parts of their bodies. it would be nice recreated on black card with only using white chalk and picking out the light.

Bristol

a week ago, a friend and i were in Bristol visitng Ben, our friend who moved down there to study at the uni. it was lovely, the streets were filled with artwork, not like graffti in newcastle. the whole city was chilled out, everyone was really friendly and we got on with everyone. it was lovely spending time with ben and i realised newcastle is not where i want to be.
